Easy New Moon Ritual

Altar with the words Easy New Moon Ritual

The New Moon is always a powerful time for fresh starts, new beginnings, and setting intentions. Astrologically, it marks renewal and lays the groundwork for future manifestations. Each month you have the opportunity to reset your energy, focus on what you’d like to create, and release what no longer serves you.

This ritual is designed to be simple, yet deeply effective. You don’t need elaborate tools — just your intention and a few everyday items. For each New Moon, you may also want to align your intentions with the themes of the zodiac sign, but it’s not required.

What You’ll Need

  • A piece of paper and something to write with

  • If using fire: a fireproof bowl, matches or lighter

  • If using earth: a small shovel or hand trowel

  • Optional: candles, crystals, incense, sage, or music to set the mood

Step 1: Reflect

Take a few moments in quiet stillness. Think about what you would like to bring into your life and what you may need to release. You might reflect on areas such as home, family, work, health, relationships, or spirituality.

If you’re holding onto heavy emotions, let them surface. Acknowledge them fully before moving on. Often, just sitting with the feeling allows it to shift and release.

Step 2: Write Your Intentions

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want to invite in?

  • What do I want to let go of?

  • Who do I want to become?

When you’re ready, write your desires down as “I intend” statements. For example:

  • “I intend to release the habit of self-doubt.”

  • “I intend to manifest a higher income by the end of the year.”

  • “I intend to meditate for fifteen minutes every day.”

As you write, imagine these intentions as seeds of possibility.

Step 3: Feel It

Read each statement aloud or silently. Then, for a minute or two, visualize it as if it has already come true. Let yourself feel the joy, relief, or excitement. Make this as real as possible in your mind and focus for at least three minutes like this. This emotional connection is where the true magick happens.

Step 4: Release Your Intentions

Choose the element that resonates most with you:

Fire (swift action):Burn your paper safely in your fireproof container. As it turns to ash, affirm that you are releasing your intentions to the Universe and making space for new things to arrive.

Earth (steady growth):Bury your paper in the ground, symbolizing that your intentions are planted as seeds. Affirm that you are laying a firm foundation for your desires to grow.

Step 5: Give Thanks

Once your paper is burned or buried, thank the Universe, your guides, or whichever spiritual entities you connect with. Take a few moments to breathe in gratitude.

If you use fire, you can scatter the ashes or keep them in a special place. If emotions come up strongly, ground yourself afterward: eat nourishing food, take a hot bath, walk barefoot outside, meditate, or simply rest.

Step 6: Trust the Cycle

For the rest of the moon cycle, do your best to keep a positive mindset around your intentions. Stay open and allow the Universe to work with you in bringing them to life. Remember, you are an active participant in this process — your emotional alignment is the key.

Happy Manifesting! ✨
