Tell A New Story

When it comes to your life, what story are you telling?

Do you know that everything that is being lived by anyone is in direct response to the story that they are telling about their life? The way we think, our moods, our history, our attitudes, it is all a telling of a story. And the cooperative universe continues to support that story, giving you more of what you are thinking and talking about.

Pay attention to the words you speak and listen to the story you are telling. If you are telling a story that speaks about the lack of what you want or the bad way you are treated or how you never have enough or that you are not good enough, smart enough, skinny enough, whatever enough then it’s time to tell a new story. If you want something to change, you’ve got to start telling the story that shifts your emotions toward the story you want to be true. This is what is called coming into alignment with the spirit within you because the spirit within you wants nothing but good things for you and is telling a very happy story for you already. You just need to catch up with it.

Start small. Start by first becoming fully aware of the story you are telling. Listen to the words you use in conversation, pay attention to the television programs that you watch (this can influence your story), notice the music you listen to, observe what story your friends are telling, listen in for the voice in your head that tells you that you are not enough and become aware of your current story. And then ask yourself “is this the story I want to tell of my life?”

If not, then work on a new story. Start with statements that you have no problem with, something that doesn’t create resistance within you. Sometimes that means starting very general and small. Sometimes it’s just a matter of saying things like “I have a comfortable bed and I really enjoy waking up in it every day” or “I love the look on my child’s face when he discovers something new” or “I so appreciate the fact that I have the power to focus my thoughts like this.” Any simple statement will do as long as it’s something that doesn’t make you uncomfortable and it’s something that you can appreciate. Then just keep at it, keep finding more and more good things to add to your story.

Over time, you will learn to tell a new story. You will learn how to really pay attention to what you say and think. With practice the story will change, it will get better and it will get easier. You have the ability to be your own story teller. Begin to change the narration of your life to one of joy and of ease and of satisfaction.

It takes practice but the good news is that you can start right now in this very moment in time. Try it now. Find a statement that is true and that makes you feel good and say it to yourself right now. Speak no more of the old story, of the one you no longer want and start telling your new story right here and now. You are the author of your life story. Nobody else can write it for you.

How You Feel Is Your Responsibility

Has this ever happened to you? You get up in the morning and you’re feeling pretty good and fairly content with things. You start your day with a smile on your face and you’re generally in a decent mood. And then, out of nowhere something or someone does something that immediately snaps you out of your mood. Maybe it’s just a little something like the coffee maker breaking down on you or maybe it’s not a very pleasant story on the news or maybe it’s your significant other’s passing remark that leaves you feeling less than good about yourself.

And then before you know it, your good mood is spoiled and you’re blaming something or someone else for it. It’s their fault, you think. If they had just left me alone, I would have been good and happy and just fine. But no, they had to just ruin my good mood and spoil my day. Grumble, grumble, grumble…

Fortunately there is a simple solution to this. It is not necessarily easy, but it’s simple and with practice, you will get better and better at learning how to be responsible for your own feelings.

So often in our society, we are told time and time again that conditions, other people and life circumstances are the responsible parties for making us feel a certain way. It’s so easy to blame someone or something else for how we feel. It’s a very old program of society and with each new generation, we pass on the old programming to our children without even realizing it. But as we as a species grow and learn and expand our experience, we are beginning to realize that this old programming is not serving us. It’s keeping us stuck in patterns which impinge on our own happiness as individuals.

It’s time to change that.

The very first thing we must realize is that we are the only ones who can control our own thoughts and moods. It’s our responsibility to be mindful and in charge of our own happiness. It’s not up to anyone else. It isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to make us feel good and it’s time we realized this. Only we can make ourselves feel anything. When we allow other things or people to dictate our happiness levels, we give away our power and we are left floating around, mindlessly bumping into people and things, letting these things determine how we feel. We become victims of circumstance. We become powerless and when people feel powerless, they lash out.

But I have good news for you.

You do not have to be a victim. You have the freedom to choose differently. It starts with making a simple decision; a decision to feel good. And then it is a matter of practicing your ability to feel good.

Do this exercise every day for a week and notice how your ability improves. Try saying, writing or simply just thinking these statements for a while:

  • I am responsible for my own feelings.
  • It is not up to anyone else to make me feel good.
  • No one and nothing can determine how I feel about things but me.
  • I have the ability to choose how I feel at all times.
  • I am in charge of how I feel and today I choose happiness.

Practice these sentences or come up with your own and make them your mantra for however long you need. Write them on post it notes and place them where you will see them often. Remind yourself daily of your power. I recommend practicing it frequently until you really begin to feel a shift. You will notice a shift after just a very short amount of time, I’m talking just a matter of days.

This is so very important. Your happiness is very important. YOU are very important. Take back your power and enjoy your freedom from victimhood.

Make a decision today that you will no longer hold anyone or anything else responsible for how you feel. This, my friends, is just the beginning of the path to happiness and self-realization. The more you implement this in your life, the more you will grow and the more you will show others the path to happiness as well. This is how we stop the old program and start a new one. This is how we make a better world. Don’t put this off, start today. You won’t regret it.

How Facebook’s Algorithms Gave Me Super Powers

Do you know that you have a super power? Yes, you, you incredible human being, you. You have a super power hidden within you and it’s time you started using it!

That super power is your ability to focus. Your mind is the single most important tool in unlocking this power within you and it is the vehicle you must use to start making positive changes in your life right now. The beauty of this tool is that it’s always with you and always within your own control. It’s just a matter of training yourself on how to focus your thoughts.

The Power of Focus

Have you ever noticed whenever you or someone you know gets a new car that the same type of car suddenly appears everywhere you look? Or you learn about something new, something you had previously never heard of before, but now all of a sudden everyone is talking about it? The explanation is simply the power of your focus.

I’ve learned a secret over the years and that secret has literally changed my life. That secret is simply this: whatever you focus on increases. If you want to make changes in your life, you need to realize the power of your mind. Your focus will determine what you are looking at, sometimes quite literally.

To give you an example, try this simple exercise right now. Look around you and take note of all the things you see that are the color red. I want you to count the number of all the red items around you. Just take a few seconds to do this right now, and then come back to this article. Go ahead. I’ll wait…

Welcome back. Now answer these questions: How many things did you see that were red? Were you aware of how much the color red was around you before you did this exercise? Chances are, you probably weren’t. Now that your focus is on it, you notice all the red around you easily.

Now to switch it up a bit – how many yellow items did you notice while you were looking for the red? Probably not too many, you were too focused on counting the red items, right?

This simple example shows you the power of your focus. The same method can be applied to anything else in your life. This is how you can begin to change the way you look at things so that the things you look at change! It is simply your ability to look for the things you wish to increase in your life.

Finding My Super Power Through Facebook

Not too long ago, I was feeling stuck in my life. I was working as a web designer and an IT tech for a local nonprofit organization. While the pay was decent, I felt deeply unfulfilled and unappreciated in my career. I knew that I needed a change, but I couldn’t figure out how, let alone what changes I needed. I would go into work feeling miserable, dreading the tech support calls I would have to answer, and eagerly awaiting the weekend so I wouldn’t have to think about work for a while.

This went on for a few years until one day, while I was escaping my daily routine by browsing through my Facebook newsfeed, I noticed something. Pretty much everyone I was following whether they were a friend or a website, was posting angry, depressed or apathetic messages all over my newsfeed.

Now, being a former web programmer, I know that the algorithms used on Facebook are designed to show you more of what you engage with. So by liking, commenting or sharing posts on Facebook, their algorithms pick up on what you like. It then shows you more of what you like and less of what you don’t engage in. Seeing so many of the negative messages on my newsfeed opened my eyes.

It dawned on me that the problem started with me. Just like Facebook was showing me more of what I engaged in, the Universe was showing me the same thing in my everyday life. My mind was focused on the negative. So naturally, all I saw was the negative. Of course I was unhappy – I was actively engaging in unhappiness!

So I started changing my focus, changing my algorithm, if you will. I started small. I stopped following and engaging in negative posts on my newsfeed. I stopped watching the nightly news. I stopped watching commercial television. I stopped watching violent movies. I stopped hanging out with people who complained, whined or who were generally unhappy with their lives but refused to do anything about it.

Using My Super Power

After distancing myself from the negative, I focused on self-improvement. Anything that did not directly contribute to my own personal growth, I didn’t engage in. I started reading more self-help books. I started watching educational documentaries. I started hanging out with more positive mindset people. I watched uplifting movies and shows. I did things that brought me pleasure: reading, doing puzzles, drawing, listening to music. I started a daily gratitude journal. I started noticing all the great things in my life.

My life began to change.

It wasn’t overnight, but when I think back on it, it really didn’t take long before I began to notice a huge difference in my mental state. Things became clearer to me. I understood more of what I wanted from life, of my own dreams and ambitions. I finally understood why I was so miserable for so long; I wasn’t focusing on me and on what I really needed. When I took the time to stop and listen to myself and to focus on the things that uplifted me, I began to understand myself and what I wanted.

I wanted more from my life, so I used my super power. I focused on the things I wanted to increase and I stopped focusing on the things I didn't like.

This led me down a road of radical change and spiritual healing. I had several limiting beliefs that needed to be addressed and changed. It took time, effort and a bucket full of tears, but I never would have even started on that road if I hadn’t found my super power.

A few months later, I took a giant leap of faith and quit my job. I started exploring all those dreams I had and following what felt better to me. I got back into my art and my writing and my many, many personal interests.

My life has changed dramatically. I no longer suffer from depression and I am in love with life again! I am finally living the way I've always wanted and now I look forward to what's next as life keeps showing me more and more good things the more I focus on the good.

It started with a simple change in focus and it's something you can do for yourself right now.

Start Using Your Super Power

If you’re not using your super power, then it’s time to learn. Start small. Start with one little thing that you can change today to help you focus on the things you want to increase. Notice what you are focusing on and how it makes you feel. If it makes you feel terrible, stop focusing there, even if just for a little while.

Then, start focusing on something wanted, something that makes you feel better. Maybe, like me, you need to stop engaging in the negative posts on your Facebook newsfeed. Maybe you need to stop counting calories and start eating more enjoyable food. Maybe you need more "me time". Maybe you simply need to start counting your blessings every day (gratitude is the best way to start making positive changes in your life). Whatever changes you can make, I urge you to start today. Begin to use your super power and start living the life you want.

The Holographic Universe and The Illusion of Separation

There is a relatively new scientific principle in development right now which posits that we may be actually living in a holographic universe. This is called the Holographic Principle. It arose from String Theory, the idea that gravity is made up of thin, vibrating strings called gravitons. These strings make up the holographic events that happen in our Three Dimensional (3D) space which lies within a flat cosmos. The strings contain the data that a 3D object would have, e.g. its volume.

The science behind it is rather complicated, so I kept it simple here. However, I do suggest that you look further into the holographic principle, should it intrigue you. It scientifically explains how quite a few phenomenons (such as telepathy) could be feasible. I recommend the book, The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot for further study. It is truly fascinating.

What this theory suggests is that we (and all conscious beings) are actually existing in another dimension while projecting ourselves and our physical world as holographic images onto the “screen” of our universe. The theory is still just a theory right now, but what it suggests is definitely something worth trying to wrap our heads around if we want to understand our own universe, let alone the nature of consciousness.

Believe it or not, the idea that we are in a holographic universe is not a new one in the metaphysical community. For a few decades now, it has been proposed and accepted by many within that community that we are actually Four Dimensional (4D) beings who project ourselves and our world onto the 3D universe. Some even propose that we are actually multidimensional, capable of spanning 12 dimensions, but that's for a later article.

Many believe that this 4D realm is where spirits and thought forms reside, i.e. ghosts, spirits, ideas, dreams, etc. This is also where many people believe our consciousness goes when we sleep. Some claim to visit this 4D realm while they are in astral travel, a phenomenon where the individual leaves the body and travels about the astral plane with full and awakened conscious thought.

Personally, I have never traveled the astral plane like that (not yet, anyway), but I have had extremely lucid dreams where I was conscious enough to direct and maintain my dream. In my lucid dreams, I can do anything. I can fly, travel around the world, shoot fireballs from my hands, have sex with anyone, I can do just about anything you can imagine. I have been able to do this since I was a teenager and at first, I just used it for entertainment. But as I matured, I started using it to delve deeper into my subconscious mind. It is something I use now to assist me in understanding things in my own personal life.

I know from personal experience that the dream realm is much like being in a holographic environment for when you can see the particles come together and create form in your dream, you realize that reality is subjective and what you thought you knew about reality was only one tiny interpretation of it. These lucid dreams feel just as real and vivid as does my waking day life, therefore it must be my own perception of it that makes it seem real. So it is not such a stretch for me to imagine that this is actually the nature of our “reality” in the 3D world.

If I accept that we are actually 4D beings capable of projecting ourselves and all other forms of “matter” into this 3D holographic universe, then I can also see how scientifically it is possible that our thoughts do in fact create our reality, thanks to my experience with lucid dreaming. When I lucid dream, I simply have the thought “I want a nice comfortable chair to sit upon” and right before my eyes, a chair appears. I know that I have created it as a conscious thought, nobody else brought it into my dream. It was me, my consciousness that made it happen.

I propose that this is what happens in our 3D world as well, only this world has a larger buffer of time before the manifestation appears because it has more resistance to get through. Thought is vibration and the form it takes is vibration. If thought is happening in the 4D realm, then it is created there first, just like in a dream. Then, through allowing and not resisting, the thought vibration turns into a “thing” (such as the chair) here in the 3D realm. Quantum Physics says that “thing” is just another form of vibration, as nothing exists as solid like we think it does. Although it may not seem to appear out of thin air, as it does in a dream, it does in fact appear though in a more natural seeming way, if we allow it.

Allowing comes about by us practicing happiness for the more we vibrate at the frequency of our Source, the more we allow our creative powers to manifest in the 3D realm. It seems simple, but it’s not easy. Because of unknown reasons, we humans have created an illusory separation from our Source. Through myth, legend and continued belief, many people think that we have fallen from grace with our Source (god, if you will) and that we need saving in order to get back. I propose that this is a false premise, for my lucid dreams show me another reality.

Many think that Source is somehow outside of us, and therefore we disempower ourselves in the process. But if we are extensions of Source, the Prime Creator, then surely the power to create is within us too, never separate. How is separation even possible without the idea that our Source is insane? I do not think that Source is insane, for if it was, nature would not work as beautifully as it does. I think that Source is Infinite Intelligence and that it has been around for a long, long time.

The separation must, therefore, be an illusion, just as this 3D world is an illusion, a holographic projection of consciousness. Therefore, the actual insanity is simply the thought that we are and could ever really be separate from our Source. And since we are not separate from our Source, this means that we are not separate from each other or anything else in this Universe. We are the insane ones for thinking that we could ever be. I think that it’s time we stopped the insanity. It's time for us to wake up and become lucid within the dream of the 3D world. It's time we embraced our creative truth and became more than we ever have before. It is time to be all we were meant to be.
